Australian War Memorial
Australian War Memorial pays tribute to Australians who fought in global conflicts. A large white building with a green dome serves as the site's focal point. It houses the commemorative area, including the Hall of Memory where the Tomb of the Australian Unknown Soldier lies. Inside, three walls of stained glass and four walls of mosaics depict Australian servicemen and women. In an outside courtyard, a memorial pool surrounds an eternal flame. A museum and archive details Australia's military involvement around the world. An amazing presentation of WW1 , WW2 and others to honor those brave souls who fought for our freedom. We enjoyed everything we saw and all of this was free with a huge free parking area underneath. more »

Best tourist attraction in Canberra. Been there twice now and loved it both times. Great collection of military/war related artifacts really well displayed. Highly recommended going in the afternoon and catching the sunset service. So beautiful and emotional. It really leaves you with a great feeling. A must see for the historical aspect even if you are not into war/military. Can't recommend it highly enough. Great for kids too.

Amazing place. The Government have done a brilliant job of commemorating the sacrifice of Australians in war over the past 100+ years. The exhibits are modern, professional and extremely detailed. You can easily spend a whole day here. It's a very wheelchair accessible place and very well suited for children. The staff are extremely friendly and are proactive in providing assistance to visitors.
