Visit the Darwin Aviation Museum to learn about Australia's colorful history in flight. See 19 aircraft on display, including a B-25 Mitchell Bomber, Mirage and Sabre jet fighters, and an Australian Navy Wessex helicopter that helped clean up Darwin after Cyclone Tracy hit on Christmas in 1974. The 38 displays include videos of the bombing of Darwin in World War II and a depiction of pioneers Ross and Keith Smith in flight in 1919. Bring drinking water with you if the weather's warm because it can become quite hot inside the hangar.   • This was a place where I "took one for the team" and went along with my husband and teenage son, while im not at all interested in planes I found this place very interesting and actually spent a bit.....  more »
  • Unless one is into planes of all types it is probably not of great interest however the history, the overall displays from the huge bomber the the smallest is worth a look. Don’t know of any other...  more »
  • Excellent exhibits. Interesting info about aviation history in Darwin, especially war history. Lovely friendly guides, but they leave you to read if you'd rather. It is quite warm inside, so wear light clothing.
