Experience one of the Australia's most interesting planting areas at George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens. On over 42 hectares (103 acres) from the sea to an inland plateau, you'll find natural marine and estuary plants, a rarity in botanic gardens. Take a self-guided tour to watch marine birds and view 11 species of cycad plants. Walk around the waterfall and ponds of the Rainforest Gully, where you can see many of the 450 species of palm trees the Gardens contain. Admire coastal plants and a mangrove near the gardens' beach. A shady playground is also available to entertain children. Make sure you put on sunscreen and insect repellent before your visit.   • Beautiful space that is perfectly manicured and wonderful for a picnic. The cafes are great too and you know you'll always score a park. Highly recommend visiting
  • Staff are fantastic. What we saw of the gardens are not spectacularly manicured, probably due to what the climate will allow to grow, ie mostly jungle type plants. We will explore all of the gardens eventually.
