Visit the vast collection of botanicals at Serres Royales De Laeken, or "Royal Greenhouses of Laeken." Located just outside the city of Brussels, the glass-covered greenhouses shelter thousands of species of plants and flowers, commissioned by King Leopold II as a series of all-weather pleasure gardens. You'll find a chapel in the greenhouses, nicknamed the "Iron Church." Wear comfortable shoes to tour the huge complex, which covers 2.5 hectares (6 acres). Visit the attraction's website to check the blooming dates, or visiting times, and to synchronize your arrival. One of my favourite places in Brussels! Not far from Atomium, it's a great opportunity to escape the "chaos" of a busy city. The fee is very small (2€ if i remember correctly) but it only opens for a.... more »

This place is just good for one-off visit. Nothing stunning or gorgeous about it. During weekends or holidays huge queue to go inside. Once inside you will find how plain, simple and average this place is. If you want to go there to see the flowers and plants, I would suggest rather visit ANY park or garden for that matter. No point in standing in queue and spending hours just to see some flowers and plants. For photographers, this place is below average in terms of frames and locations. You will get better shots in any one of Brussels parks. If you have never seen how a greenhouse system looks like, you may visit this place. But again, nothing spectacular or outstanding. Ordinary at max. There is a cafe inside serving coffee, tea, juices and pastries. Prices around 2 to 4 euros for food. Verdict: You won't miss absolutely nothing if you skip this place

Royal Greenhouses are opened just for three weeks during the spring and attract both tourists and locals in big amounts, so a huge line on weekends is the usual thing. However, the place is totally worth it! It's just great and you should definitely visit it if you're in Brussels during these weeks
