Head to the Alberta Badlands and check out Hoodoos. Hoodoos, or “fairy chimneys”, are sandstone spires that protrude from the ground, created by wind and water erosion. Observe the striking rock formations, which stand up to 6 m (20 ft) tall and feature a distinct pillar shape and mushroom-like caps that protect them from being completely eroded. According to local legend, the Hoodoos are petrified gods or giants, protecting the Badlands by throwing rocks at intruders. On the trail that takes you on a loop around the area, you can learn about the history and folklore of the Badlands, rest on a bench, and take advantage of great photo opportunities.     Beautiful hoodoos -an unusual landscape! Everyone visiting from young children to seniors were enjoying this walk. For the more adventurous there are trails you can climb the hills.  more »
