Zoo Ecomuseum, Montreal

4.0
#1 of 7 in Wildlife in Montreal
Observe over 115 species of native Quebecois wildlife at Zoo Ecomuseum, Montreal's only outdoor zoo. Black bears, lynx, wolves, eagles, reptiles, and amphibians populate the grounds in abundance. Young members of the family will love the chance to see these critters feeding and interacting with each other. The zoo also acts as an educational and conservation project, taking pains to provide the best possible habitats for the animals. Facilities include outdoor and indoor picnic areas, so bring snacks and drinks along. To visit Zoo Ecomuseum and other attractions in Montreal, use our Montreal online itinerary planner.

  • Pretty cool place even in winter. Kids will love it. Bring your own food, there's a large seating area but no restaurant. Keep in mind there are only local animals here. The wolf are pretty impressive. You may want to get a full year membership. Pretty cheap and the money is going to a good cause.
  • It was fun for the kids - I would recommend going in the warmer months for two reasons: animals are not hibernating and pathways are not covered in ice. If you are bringing a stroller, you need one with big wheels or a wagon to get over the ice, snow and slush. Staff was friendly, it was clean and a well visited place for schools. A little expensive, even with the winter discounted prices, for the experience. The interior exhibit for reptiles and amphibians is downstairs, there is no visible elevator, so you will need to leave strollers upstairs. Parking is free - a plus in my books.
