The Fish Shop has been serving locals and tourists alike for the past 44 years. We deal in fish caught from Lake Superior and surrounding lakes (Lake Nipigon) and smoke our fish on premises using green alder wood. Our shop also sells a variety of ocean fish as well as other goods from businesses in the area (Thunder Oaks cheese, home made baking, preserves, farm fresh eggs, wild rice etc.)Choose to start, finish, or center your holiday on a trip to The Fish Shop by using our Thunder Bay vacation planning website .
In the past ten years we have also opened a gift shop which has a large selection of Amethyst jewelry/gifts and traditional Finnish items (Lapland hats, rag mats) crafted by our friends.
Stop by our shop or visit us at Thunder Bay Country Market on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings.
The Fish Shop Reviews

Pulled off the main highway and followed the signs to this quaint shop on the side of the water. Scenic drive and beautiful location. I went in for the smoked fish and was surprised to visit an elaborate gift shop. I enjoyed my experience there, and the owner/salesperson was full of stories about each item she carried in the shop. In the end I came away with some fish and some amethyst jewellery ! The three star rating is based on the quality of maple candied salmon, which unfortunately used Aunt Jemima's table syrup instead of the real deal. That's a bit of let down. Furthermore, the amethyst and Stirling silver ring we purchased seemed great in store but upon further inspection revealed several flaws. The way the stone sits on the ring is a little crooked and the edges of the silver around the stone are jagged and unsmooth. Let's just say for the price one would have expected a higher quality of metalwork. Still a lovely stop, just make sure you carefully inspect your purchase before driving away ;)
Great smoked fresh fish from the shores of Lake Superior. Nice staff, good food. The pastries are also good. They also have a gift shop and sell local items such as Amethyst and Moccasins.
