  • 3 day tour QUITO-QUILOTA-BAÑOS-QUITO I will divide this review in 2 parts: PART I is the guides and PART II is the tour itself. PART I I want to start out by saying that THE GUIDES & CHAFFEURS OF THE BUSSES ARE EXCELLENT! They are friendly, funny, professional, patient, very bilingual AND very local (our driver was born and raised in Baños). Our guide, Joseph did everything from repeating instructions (several times), taking and sharing pictures of the activities, waiting for us if we were running late from a stop. He truly was knowledgeable about the indigenous culture. Not only did we have a ton of fun, but we also felt like we learned a lot. 👋🏽 Diego was our guide for the second half of the trip. Although we didn’t spend nearly as much time with him as we did with Joseph, he was incredibly nice (always smiling) and helpful. PART II They have designated pick up spots throughout Quito. But if you’re like us (we were Staying in Northern Quito), you can choose the location that’s nearest to you and meet them there. They pick you up in a small bus/buseta (holds 15-20 ppl) bc they have to pick up passengers at hotels in Quito Colonial (big busses aren’t allowed to enter that zone.) Then you switch to a large bus that has charging outlets for your phones and holds about 45-50 ppl. First stop was Cotopaxi. You stop at the very unique and authentic Chuquiragua Lodge for breakfast (best cruisants and jam ever!) Amazing breakfast set in a rustic ranch house environment. The breakfast itself had fresh fruit, fresh juice and eggs. My bf is vegan and they accommodated him for his meal as well (we loved it!). Next stop was Quilotoa. On the way there, you make a stop a the canon del Toachi in The town of Zumbahua. Here you get to spend some time with the locals and get pictures of the canon itself and get up close and personal with their cattle: llamas and alpacas. This was probably one of my favorite activities. It’s a $1 donation per person for pictures, but you’re giving it directly to the indigenous people. Trust me, you will never find a better or cheaper opportunity to take pictures with these amazing animals. If you’re small enough, you can even ride/sit on one. Quilotoa was breathtaking. I have never seen anything like it before. It’s a crater filled with brilliant turquoise water. You can walk down to the base and kayak inside the lagoon or hike. Next time I would like to make more time to hike around the whole loop. I also bought some souvenirs here. I recommend buying souvenirs directly from the indigenous people. They are nice, they are probably cheaper, better for their economy and not mass produced. It’s the right thing to do. SUPPORT OUR INDÍGENAS🙏🏽 3 hours later we are in Baños! All the other Baños activities were not included due to a character limit here on google: Swing, zip line, cable car ride & Pailon del Diablo THE BAD: This is the part where I thought we could’ve done a 2 day trip instead of a 3 day trip. If you’re not into extreme sports, a lot of these activities may seem redundant. We had already done zip lining, I didn’t see the point in doing MORE ZIP LINING. A regular bus in Baños can have you in Quito in 3 hours. Our Ecuador Hop returning bus didn’t leave until 1 PM. That bus also took THE LONGGG WAY BACK: went back to Quilotoa, back to Cotopaxi and then started the descent to Quito. On top of that, we rode the tiny little buseta which wasn’t the most comfortable and it took us 3 times as long to get back to Quito. We had to wait for people to finish eating and get on the bus and then we had to drop off every single person before we got to our destination. We did not get home until after 9PM. The tour should’ve been advertised as: QUITO-COTOPAXI-QUILOTOA-BAÑOS- QUILOTOA-COTOPAXI-QUITO. (8 hr bus ride which is the equivalent of going from Quito to Guayaquil by car for those who need perspective.) We wished we knew this, so we would’ve ridden a regular bus back to Quito and still had a day to sightsee.
  • Hands down one of the best bus services I've had in all of South America! It made traveling through Ecuador easy and stress-free, the onboard guides were great and everything else was just as amazing.
