Kerala Backwaters, Kerala

4.2
#1 of 172 in Nature in Kerala
Kerala Backwaters, a crisscrossing network of coastal waterways navigable by boat, provide one of the region's most efficient transportation options and tourist attractions. More than 900 km (560 mi) of lagoons, canals, lakes, and estuaries make up the network, and draw visitors from around the world looking to glide lazily under palm trees and past traditional villages on a houseboat. Explore this massive network of water-routes by renting a boat, as this makes for the easiest mode of transport and allows you to get an up-close glimpse of a region nearly frozen in time. Kerala Backwaters is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our online itinerary creator, Kerala Edition.

  • Spent 3 nights at this resort earlier this month and it was a great stay! We paid for an upgrade to the oceanfront cabana, which was worth the price. The beach views, calm ocean and ability to watch the sunset on our patio were highlights of the trip! The hotel restaurant was exceptional, not only because every meal we enjoyed had a variety of options and was flavorful but also because the prices were so reasonable for an oceanfront resort! The entire island and resort were a lot more laid back and calm than other touristy coastal front towns in the southeast, but that may in part due to it being early March. I'd imagine there's a bit more traffic during high seasons, but either way, we'll definitely be back! Highly recommended!
  • The most favourite spot for me as its my home town. The best place in alappuzha to hangout. Best suitable for one day trip. A lots of house boat services are available ,from cheap shikkar boats to multi cuisine .
