When in Kochi, make a short stop at Fort Kochi to admire Chinese Fishing Nets, representing an authentic fishing method and a landmark of the city. Although their name suggests Chinese heritage, the nets probably originate from Portuguese settlers who had colonies in Southern China. The unusual nets are fixed on bamboo or teak pillars and are lowered into the sea. Take a walk along the beach to admire the famous Kochi vista of the large, hammock-like nets appearing to float in mid-air, or purchase some of the fresh seafood being pulled out of the sea.
Worth a visit to the Promenade area and fishing nets, you can access the edge of the pier and watch the local promenade and market. It's a good idea to combine a hike around the port of Fort Spinas along the promenade.View original -

Classic Kochi sight that’s good to see. Try to go around sunset, it’s photogenic and the streets surrounding are lively. Don’t get ripped off by participating in the raising of the nets—agree a price first if you do want to partake.

Good place to visit in Kochi. The nets are placed in and out of the water around 250/300 times per day so you can always catch a glimpse of what they have caught. There is fish etc for sale next to the nets if you are interested in purchasing them. All local restaurants surrounding the nets sell the fresh seafood which has been caught.
