Untouched prehistoric scenery waits for you at Rajamalai (Eravikulam) National Park, a protected high-elevation ecosystem and a World Heritage Site. Home to the largest surviving population of the endangered Niligir tahr, the area's designated visitor zone allows you to uncover the delicate shola-grassland terrain without disturbing the ibex's natural habitat. At a base elevation of roughly 2,000 m (6,561 ft), the rolling hill plateaus rise up to the highest peak in India south of the Himalayas. Start your journey at the park's tourist center, from which you can take a guided tour in a forest vehicle. Bring plenty of water and wear appropriate footwear, and keep in mind that the park closes in February and March for the calving season. • Didn’t spot any wildlife, but the air and serenity of nature was great. There was no one there but us, and it was very peaceful.  more »
  • We saw more than 100 Indian gaur there and many Sambars and many types of birds. Enjoy the 90 minutes boat cruise , should bring own binoculars to see the wildlife there .  more »
