With massive sandstone walls, Red Fort represents a major Mughal-era structure with a place on the World Heritage List. Built by Shah Jahan of Taj Mahal fame in 1648, the fort long served as an imposing center of Mughal power. Though you cannot explore much of the fort due to its importance as a military base, you can still marvel at the host of colonnades and pavilions that survived the colonial-era gutting by the British. You'll also get an up-close look at some of the watchtowers and defensive positions that punctuate the wall. Keep in mind that your entry ticket includes admission to the fort's internal museums. This large building complex, at the time a real fortified citadel, extends over a large area and owes its name to the red color. Seen from the outside it is impressive, once inside this feeling disappears, perhaps for the large spaces. There are the inevitable souvenir stalls just after the access from the Lahore gate, buildings once inhabited by notables of various levels, stables, museums. Access and directions leave something to be desired, however the ticket office is about 800m from Lahore gate, accessible by electric tuk tuk at 10 rupees per person. Admission 600 rupees, with museum 900.View original

The Red fort is our one of the best heritage place.. Good Tourists place The Red Fort is one of the most popular monuments in the history of India. It has a big area for the visitors to watch over. Different sections have their own importance. Highlighted. It has also has a museum showcasing various historic parts of the past. Be it uniforms, Spears, swords or old telephonic instruments. A good watch. But a big factor to be considered is the weather. It's an open air place, so if you go on a sunny day make it a point to carry your goggles and cap. Not to forget drinking water. The place is facilitated with I public washrooms and drinking water. But please choose a pleasant weather period to visit or else you'll be drenched in sweat.
