Sagarika Emporium, South Andaman Island

If you're hunting for souvenirs or gifts, drop by Sagarika Emporium, a government-run market offering a variety of local goods at fixed prices. Browse through stores stocked with handicrafts, including furniture and carvings made from padauk wood, tribal masks, and lampshades made from coconut shells. You will be surprised to see what the self-employed locals can make from mother-of-pearl and seashells (such as salt and peppershaker sets). Keep an eye open for products that are on discount (which happens often). Before you head to Port Blair, plan trip itinerary details with our user-friendly Port Blair day trip app, to make sure you see all that Port Blair has to offer, including Sagarika Emporium.

  • A govt owned shop. There are plenty of copy cat showrooms which is where auto drivers and taxi drivers will take you. Ask for the the sagarika opposite the library. There are quite a bit of quaint stuff you can buy here. Mostly made out of coconut shells and wood.
  • This is govt approved shop with good quality product with optimal price but you wont get those things which are available in beach side shop...
