Hakone Venetian Glass Museum, Hakone-machi

4.0
Admire over a hundred pieces of antique glassware at Hakone Venetian Glass Museum. The museum’s display of Venetian glassware forms part of the private collection of Sadao Ukai, who had a penchant for intricate vases, tableware, lamps, and other glass pieces, mainly dating from the 15th to the 18th centuries. Besides the antique pieces, the museum also exhibits modern sculptures made out of Venetian glass. Rent a costume and a carnival mask for some fun photo ops, take a glass art-making class, or relax in the museum’s cafe and enjoy the mountain views. Hakone Venetian Glass Museum is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Hakone-machi Edition.

  • The beauty is small, and the first half of the time. It's not cheap to stop. In other words, it is not very worthy of a special visit, if the peer has a little girl princess, and is the road, you can go and have a look.

  • For some reason, among all the things the Japanese do very well, one of them is to take the imagination of Europe and transform it into something perfect. This museum is no exception. It is not only the objects on display (which in themselves are very impressive, especially for someone who delirious for colored glasses like me), it is also the complete place, with their period buildings, the glass trees that refract the colors of the rainbow, the down to the river, the workshops to make your own glass ornaments, and the souvenir shop, which for my happiness and doom, was bigger than the museum itself. I was enthralled for hours with everything, and ended up with a sublime cream cake in the Italian café inside the museum.

  • I could only describe it as a shop with an entry fee, there are some interesting objects but nothing that can justify the price, some people might enjoy it as it has its charm for couples and taking pictures.
  • This museum had some stunning glass pieces and would highly recommend a visit, I didn't capture too many photos of the glass but there are plenty and a lot of nicely finished grounds to explore including a ravine. It is one of the more pricy places to visit but worth the price!
