Noted for its scarlet tori gates, Heian Shrine remains one of the most important Shinto sites in Kyoto. Built in 1895 to celebrate the city’s 1,100th anniversary, and relatively new in comparison to similar religious sites, the shrine was designed to resemble a smaller replica of the original Heian Palace. Step into the complex through the large, vividly colored gate, and explore its picturesque grounds. Roam the courtyards and Chinese-style buildings, or, for a small fee, enter the gardens that encircle a large pond, and stroll along stone paths lined by weeping cherry trees and maples. Heian Shrine Reviews
Très grand temple shinto aux belles couleurs (rouge vermillon, blanc, vert), belles proportions, très aéré, et peu de monde pour l'admirer ce qui ajoute au plaisir de sa découverte. more »Very large Shinto temple with beautiful colors (vermilion red, white, green), beautiful proportions, very airy, and few people to admire it which adds to the pleasure of its discovery.
도쿄가 수도가 되기전 일본의 천년의 수도. 그걸 기념하기 위해 만들어진 신궁인데 규모 꽤 크고 주변 정원이 볼만합니다. 정원은 입장료 600엔 이지만 들어갈만합니다. more »Before Tokyo became the capital, japan's millennia capital. It's a shrine built to commemorate it, but it's quite large in size and the surrounding gardens are worth seeing. The garden costs 600 yen, but it's worth it.
One of the newer shrines in Kyoto. It's nice and large with very spacious grounds. Because of that it's not as overcrowded as many other places. Behind the shrine there's a beautiful large garden with ponds. However, the entrance fee to the gardens is 600 ¥ while the entrance to the shrine is free. But I highly recommend visiting the gardens too.
Beautiful shrine with a large, peaceful garden to walk around in in all seasons. You can also enjoy some simple snacks in the souvenir shop located next to the shrine.
