Kouri Island, Miyakojima

4.5
#3 of 12 in Nature in Miyakojima
The small islet of Kouri Island offers peaceful beaches, quaint eateries, and great snorkeling. The island is so small you can easily traverse it on foot, but consider hiring a bicycle from the "mainland" and heading across the bridge for full autonomy. Bordered by white sand beaches and a crystal clear ocean, the island provides perfect conditions for snorkeling and observing the marine life around the unusual rock formations. You can choose from a couple of reputable restaurants serving up local dishes, though the beaches make very picturesque picnic spots. Bear in mind that many of the island's beaches remain quiet and unspoiled, with little in the way of amenities, so bring along some water and snacks to keep you going. • It was a stay at Sigira Resort, but the access was good via The Bridge. I recommend the fruit of the paradise of the café, but there is a stylish general store on the way there, and I think that it is worth stopping by. In addition, it was an island where the island time was felt quietly though it was able to go around by car.

  • There is no thing that this especially goes to sightseeing. However, there is a hotel of a stylish trailer house named RUGU. There are also hidden and unpopular beaches. I think it's an island to pass. Perfect for those who want to relax on a beach where there is no one. For advanced users.

  • Maybe I'm missing something but we just visited and it's a very very small beach with a regular looking bridge connecting to the island. Good for a photo or two. There were heaps of tourists snorkelling in groups or riding on floaties behind a sea too all in a very very small area. Not my jam.
  • Great little island for a day trip. I recommend hitting up the shrimp shack and eating it at the beach while you take in the beautiful turquoise waters. Only downside is all the tourists.
