Odawara Castle, Odawara

3.9
See the historical 15th-century stronghold of Odawara Castle, reconstructed in 1960 to its former glory. Surrounded by sakura (cherry) trees in the nearby park, the concrete castle contains a museum with a fine collection of ancient artifacts, weapons, and armors. The castle fell many times under siege throughout the centuries, but now the stout structure draws scores of tourists (as well as monkeys). Should you wish to purchase a souvenir, visit the nearby gift shops. Inspirock's itinerary builder makes planning a Odawara trip simple and quick.

  • It was my first visit after the major renovation, but the exhibition in Honmaruuchi was quite impressive. During the Rugby World Cup, there were many foreign tourists, but there were some english and no parts of the exhibition. If the people involved were looking at it, I think it would be a necessary improvement. The view from the top layer is also good, and it is interesting to check the position of Mt. Ishigaki here, and to go to the castle at night at mt. Ishigaki. Ninja Museum worked hard for small children, there was a feeling. It was interesting, but i wish I could go there once.

  • It was a windy day with a lot of clouds, but the view from the castle tower was wonderful. I think sagami bay was more beautiful on a sunny day. Because it was after the renovation, the inside was also quite easy to see. There is a stamp at the entrance to collect around the castle in Japan, not the red seal book, but the stamp book is sold to the shop, so please be careful.

  • Such a beautiful landmark! The castle itself is astonishing but the surroundings are also remarkable. The whole site inspires peace and serenity despite its bloody history 🙏🏯
  • Interesting castle structure with a nice view of the city and bay. You can go inside the castle structure for ¥500. There's a museum filled with items and historical facts about the castle (although it's all in Japanese). You can get a nice view of the city from the observation deck on the top floor of the castle. It's not a bad visit if you are in the area.
