Enrich your tour of the city with a history lesson at Museo Nacional de Antropologia, one of Mexico's premier cultural institutions. Established in 1964, this comprehensive museum contains important artifacts from the country's pre-Columbian past. Major highlights include an Aztec stone calendar and a 16th-century statue of Xochipilli, Aztec god of art, games, flowers, and song. After you piece together Mexico's pre-Hispanic past, visit the upper display halls to learn how the country's indigenous cultures live today. Rent an audio guide at the entrance if you wish to explore on your own, or join one of the museum's free guided tours. • I love this museum and the great exhibitions with which we always delight. If a foreigner wants to know our ancestors should visit the hall of the Unmissable Aztecs!!

  • Visiting Mexico City, it is great to visit the Museum of Anthropology because apart from being a great structure, it offers us a view of our beautiful past of Mexico, with different expressions and times and from there move to the Rufino Tamayo museum which is excellent , highly recommended and visited for our present and future generations do not forget their roots.

  • Super fun and informative! Admission cost 90 pesos (around 18 dollars - mar/19) and I could have spent an entire day there and still wouldn't have seen everything. There's loads of interesting pieces and bits of information about the story of the people who inhabited that part of the world in the old days. Also the building itself is a sight to see!
  • One of the most smart and friendly designed museums I got to visit. Rich with finds, arts and explanations about the vast anthropological history of Mexico. You'll need around 3 hours to tour all rooms and get a display of the different periods, cultures and societies formed in ancient Mexico. Information is mainly displayed in Spanish and some of the visuals are dated to the 90's - it would be nice to see an update on those. Overall great and important museum.
