Trip Planner: South Pacific / New Zealand / North Island / Bay of Plenty Region / Rotorua District / Rotorua / Rainbow Springs Nature Park
Animal and bird lovers should flock to Rainbow Springs Nature Park, a 9 hectare (22 acre) nature park and wildlife conservation center featuring many rare endemic species, a water ride, and a beautiful natural setting of native plants and streams. The fuzzy little flightless birds known as kiwis are the park's most famous inhabitants, and visitors can get up close and personal with the creatures during a kiwi encounter--a tour of the nursery and hatchery. Cool off with a ride on the big splash, spend time with birds in one of the park's free flight aviaries, or catch an exciting bird show. Your ticket allows you unlimited admission for the day, letting you return at night to observe nocturnal creatures. For travelers who use our custom trip planner, Rotorua holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Rainbow Springs Nature Park and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

Our Primary reason for visiting was to see the Kiwi birds and it didn’t disappoint! They were the highlight of our day. The nature walk is also nice and we all loved the big splash. Our family ticket ... more »
A great park. Quite expensive, but we used an entertainment voucher to get one free adult. We did 5+ rides on the big splash as my son loved it and wanted to keep going. The extra kiwi hatchery tour is informative and worth doing. Lots of playgrounds as well for kids.
As I remembered the park from a school trip about fifty years ago.still relevant today.pristine water,,mature fauna ,animals close enough to impress with their personalities.went away feeling that the enclosure s could be three times as big and the canopy restricted sunlight in a few aviaries.was cool on a hot day, must be cold in the winter.restaurant clean and food delicious.saw two kiwi, felt privileged. Educational and worthwhile.
