  • My Girlfriend and I just finished the Hump Ridge Track today and it is absolutely magnificent. Paradise beaches, deep untouched forests and sub alpine backcountry in only 3 days, couldn’t ask for more. To be honest we got really lucky with the weather especially in winter with 3 sunny days in a row so hopefully you guys will get as lucky as we did. I am not going to spoil anything about the track just a few advises: check the weather, have good gear and know how to use it, know how much food you need for an exercise like this and be honest to yourself about the level of fitness. Besides than that enjoy absolutely recommended.
  • Tough route for intermediate level hikers/trampers. Wonderfully varied route taking in beaches, country road, rainforest and sub alpine. The lodges are fully equipped, super cozy, clean and a nice alternative to the great walks with no alternative to camping. Lighter pack (minus camping gear) makes the hike a lot more enjoyable. Pack plenty of deet/insect repellent, sandflies are intense, particularly on day 3. Also advise packing a waterproof camera as day 3 also provides opportunity to spot a the school of Hector Dolphins which hang out at one of the neighbouring beaches. Highly recommend this well run, highly underrated, walk in beautiful untouched part of NZ
