Mt.Tapochao, Saipan

#3 of 6 in Nature in Northern Mariana Islands
Mountain · Nature / Park
Survey Saipan and enjoy 360-degree views from the island's highest point at Mt.Tapochao. You can either drive up the potholed, winding road in an off-road vehicle to reach the summit, or pack some supplies and embark on a hike to earn the views from the top. Once you reach the mountain's peak, you'll understand why the panoramic views here were so important for the island's defense during World War II. Take a photo of the iconic Jesus statue looking out over the island, then reward yourself with a snack and a cold drink from one of the local vendors at the summit. • A person can see the whole island from up here. There are plaques with a history of the liberation from WW2 to read as well. We enjoyed coming up here and seeing everything.  more »
  • The view allows you to see all of Saipan and the neighboring island of Tinian. On very clear days you even can see Rota and Annatahan. The history is also very interesting  more »
