Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve, Tulcea

Take a boat ride and explore the maze of canals and lakes with floating reed islands on Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve. The region, which also boasts forests, meadows, and sand dunes, is home to wildcats, wolves, foxes, boars, and deer. You'll also find nearly 300 species of birds here, including Egyptian white pelicans, Arctic geese, pygmy cormorants, and white-tailed eagles. The area includes a few scattered villages on the shores, including Chilia Veche--an ancient Greek settlement and the site of a battle between the forces of Vlad the Impaler and of Mahomed II, the conqueror of Constantinople. • A place to go to people who have visited everywhere in Romania. Very expensive transport from the city to the hotels in delta unless you use the ferry. The standard Delta Tour is inexpensive. If you are not a fisherman to do you there will be nothing more. Off take better as there are a lot of guesthouses with not very good conditions. Be sure to ask to take you to the Pelicans, it fascinates.

  • "The spot where the Danube meets the Black Sea is the second largest river delta in Europe. It is also a biosphere reserve home to more than 9,000 species and to the largest colony of white pelicans on the continent. Don’t miss the Letea Forest, you could catch a glimpse of the wild horses."
  • Beautiful place, nature just takes control everything. I will definetly visit it again, also I recommend renting a boat otherwise you can't explore it very well.
