A rock-studded, wide, and white sandy stretch of Jeju Island, Hamdeok Beach makes a popular spot for swimming, strolling, and snorkeling. Families visit during holiday season, filling the spot with colorful parasols and people dressed in consevative swimwear. A small footbridge will take you to a rocky islet for a close-up view of the ocean and coastal marine life, and you can admire bronze figures of fishermen drawing their net, or sit with them on a bench under a palm tree. You can also use the beach's showers and dressing rooms, as well as renting motorboats and banana boats. Pubs and restaurants on the shore offer a wide variety of dishes and drinks. The beach has beautiful, clear emerald waters (the pictures doesn’t do the place justice as its much better experienced in person), and a really nice cafe by the sea with good pastries. We got... more »

Nice beach, good surroundings, populous but not overcrowded. Water is clean, and an... Interesting amount of seaweed. Also some great pork barbecue restaurants in the area.

So beautiful place with blue sea water. The thing about Hamdeok Beach is that if you arrive in the evening, you’re likely to think that there isn’t much of a beach.. or beaches in the area but that’s because the tide has come in and covered it up on the western end. Hamdeok has three small beaches that don’t get taken over by the tide in the evening and the two to the east are the most popular by far. If you come in on that end of Hamdeok, you’re likely to think it’s too busy and want to leave during high season. I’d tell you to keep walking west and you’ll like what you see though. If you want your own space, go as far west as you can. That’s just what we did and it was spectacular.
