Sydney, Australia to Tokyo is an approximately 12.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train. The time zone changes from Australian Eastern Standard Time (New South Wales) (AEST) to Japan Standard Time (JST), which is usually a -1 hour difference. Traveling from Sydney in September, expect Tokyo to be somewhat warmer, temps between 32°C and 24°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 9th (Wed) to allow enough time to take a train to Kanazawa.

Kick off your visit on the 10th (Thu): enjoy the sand and surf at Gongenmori Beach, make a trip to Omicho Market, then explore the historical opulence of Kanazawa Castle, then take in nature's colorful creations at Kenrokuen Garden, and finally examine the collection at Ishikawa Prefectural Museum for Traditional Products and Crafts. Here are some ideas for day two: steep yourself in history at Nomura Family Samurai House, admire the striking features of Kanazawa Station, take a stroll through Higashichaya Old Town, then admire the masterpieces at 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, then don't miss a visit to Seisonkaku Villa, and finally indulge your thirst for a good beer at Noguchi Naohiko Sake Institute.

You can take a train from Tokyo to Kanazawa in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. In September in Kanazawa, expect temperatures between 30°C during the day and 21°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 11th (Fri) so you can travel to Hiroshima.

The castle around which the city of Himeji has developed represents one of the best preserved in the country, and has been designated as a national treasure and a World Heritage Site.
On the 14th (Mon), take in nature's colorful creations at Koko-en Garden, step into the grandiose world of Himeji Castle, then don't miss a visit to Shoshazan Engyoji, and finally take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mt. Takamikura.

Take a train from Hiroshima to Himeji in an hour. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and train. Expect a daytime high around 31°C in September, and nighttime lows around 26°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 14th (Mon) early enough to catch the train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Step out of Kyoto to go to Konohana and see Universal Studios Japan, which is approximately 1h 15 min away. There's still lots to do: contemplate the long history of Kiyomizu-dera Temple, don't miss a visit to Heian Shrine, take an in-depth tour of Kyoto Museum of Traditional Crafts Fureaikan, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Sanjusangendo Temple.

Traveling by train from Himeji to Kyoto takes an hour. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Himeji in September, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be a bit cooler in Kyoto, with lows of 23°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 18th (Fri) to allow time for travel back home.
