Kick off your visit on the 11th (Sun): enjoy the sand and surf at Mikasahama Beach, then head off the coast to Miyajima, then contemplate the long history of Itsukushima Shrine Torii, and finally contemplate the long history of Itsukushima Shrine. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 12th (Mon): examine the collection at Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, take an in-depth tour of Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims, and then contemplate the long history of Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park.

Houston, USA to Hiroshima is an approximately 21.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 15 hours traveling from Houston to Hiroshima. When traveling from Houston in August, plan for little chillier days in Hiroshima, with highs around 88°F, while nights are about the same with lows around 77°F. The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Nijo Castle and Sanjusangendo Temple will appeal to history buffs. For shopping fun, head to Dotonbori or Fuuka-Kimono. Get out of town with these interesting Kyoto side-trips: Nara (Todaiji Temple Cultural Center, Nara Park, & more) and Osaka Castle (in Osaka). And it doesn't end there: take in the spiritual surroundings of Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, don't miss a visit to Gion, and take an in-depth tour of Kyoto Museum of Traditional Crafts Fureaikan.

Traveling by train from Hiroshima to Kyoto takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 92°F in August, and nighttime lows around 77°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 16th (Fri) to allow time to take a train to Numazu.

You can take a train from Kyoto to Numazu in 3 hours. Other options are to drive; or do a combination of flight and train. Traveling from Kyoto in August, you will find days in Numazu are little chillier (84°F), and nights are about the same (79°F). Finish your sightseeing early on the 19th (Mon) to allow enough time to travel to Tokyo.
