A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Trinity Beach and Four Mile Beach. Discover out-of-the-way places like Spas and Australian Butterfly Sanctuary. Take a break from Cairns with a short trip to Palm Cove Beach in Palm Cove, about 32 minutes away. Plan for a bit warmer temperatures traveling from Gold Coast in July, with highs in Cairns at 30°C and lows at 20°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 14th (Tue) to allow time to travel to Darwin.

Darwin

The smallest of Australia’s state capitals, Darwin has nevertheless become an attractive and important urban center, being simultaneously one of the country’s most modernized cities and a gateway to both the Top End region and South East Asia.
Step off the beaten path and head to Litchfield National Park and Nature & Wildlife Tours.
