Reykjavik, the world's most northerly capital, effortlessly combines small-town charm with heaps of big city energy.
Get outdoors at Thingvellir National Park and Heidmork Nature Reserve. Museum-lovers will get to explore National Museum of Iceland and Landnámssýningin/The Settlement Exhibition. Take a break from Reykjavik with a short trip to Ytri Tunga Beach in Arnarstapi, about 2h 30 min away. There's lots more to do: get outside with Outdoor Activities, appreciate the history behind Sun Voyager, see the interesting displays at Volcano House, and pause for some serene contemplation at Hallgrimskirkja.

The popular town of Husavik not only boasts some of Iceland's best whale-watching opportunities but is arguably the northeast coast's prettiest town.
On the 21st (Sun), see the interesting displays at The Transportation Museum at Ystafell and then admire the landmark architecture of Husavikurkirkja. Here are some ideas for day two: explore the striking landscape at Rauoanes Point, then learn more about the world around you at The Húsavík Whale Museum, and then enjoy some diversion at Husavik Swimming Pool.

Höfn or Höfn í Hornafirði is an Icelandic fishing town in the southeastern part of the country. Escape the urban bustle at Glacier Lagoon and Vatnajokull. The Thorbergur center and Huldusteinn are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get out of town with these interesting Hofn side-trips: Hvalnes Lighthouse (in Hornafjorour) and Diamond Beach (in Jokulsarlon). It doesn't end there: explore the striking landscape at Hoffellsjokull Glacier and try out the rides at Hofn Swimming Pool.

Getting from Husavik to Hofn by car takes about 6.5 hours. Other options: fly; or do a combination of bus and taxi. Traveling from Husavik in April, expect a bit warmer with lows of 1°C in Hofn. Cap off your sightseeing on the 25th (Thu) early enough to go by car to Vik.

Iceland's southernmost village, Vik, sports some of the country's wildest and most dramatic coastline.
Start off your visit on the 26th (Fri): trot along with a tour on horseback, take in the spiritual surroundings of Reyniskyrka Church, then stroll through Black Sand Beach, and finally pause for some photo ops at Voyages Friendship Statue.
