Inhabited for millennia, the city of Bukhara boasts a World Heritage-listed center teeming with historic mosques, madrassas, pools, and ancient ruins.
Get some cultural insight at Abdulaziz-Khan Madrasah and Bakhautdin Naqsband Mausoleum. Get some historical perspective at Chasma Ayub Mausoleum and Bukhara Synagogue. Step out of Bukhara to go to Gijduvan and see Gijduvan ceramics of The Narzullaevs, which is approximately 48 minutes away. One of the largest and oldest cities in Central Asia, Tashkent combines layers of history and a bustling modern edge.
Step off the beaten path and head to Lake Charvak and Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin,. Get a sense of the local culture at State Museum "In Memory of the Victims of Repression" and Kukeldash Madrasah. Step out of Tashkent with an excursion to The Sun Heliocomplex in Parkent--about 1 hour away. There's still lots to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Ensemble Hazrati Imam, don't miss a visit to Barak-Khan Madrassah, stroll around Alisher Navoi National Park, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cathedral.
