A popular destination for Japanese tourists, Kumage-gun Yakushima-cho is a true paradise for nature lovers, with over 1,900 species and subspecies of plants.
Kick off your visit on the 23rd (Fri): admire the sheer force of Oko no Taki Fall, enjoy the sand and surf at Nagata Inakahama, and then explore the stunning scenery at Shiratani Unsuikyo Valley. On the next day, soak in some Japanese tradition at some of the top local onsens and then explore the striking landscape of Yakusugi Land.

Onna-son

Located on the coast in the middle of the island, Onna-son has become known for its beaches and seaside economy.
Popular historic sites such as Okinawa Peace Memorial Park and Katsuren Castle Ruins are in your itinerary. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Scuba & Snorkeling and Nakagusuku Castle Ruins. Explore Onna-son's surroundings by going to Araha Park (Araha Beach) (in Chatan-cho), Sefa-Utaki (in Nanjo) and AEONMALL OKINAWA RYCOM (in Kitanakagusuku-son). You can do a combination of taxi and flight from Yakushima-cho to Onna-son in 6.5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of taxi, ferry, bus, and flight; or do a combination of taxi, ferry, train, bus, and flight. In April in Onna-son, expect temperatures between 75°F during the day and 63°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 27th (Tue) early enough to travel to Miyakojima.

Miyakojima

A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
