Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
On the 19th (Mon), find your balance on the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area, enjoy the sand and surf at Yonehara Beach, then take in panoramic vistas at Tamatorizaki Observatory, then enjoy the sea views from Cape Hirakubozaki, and finally explore the fascinating underground world of Ishigaki Island Limestone Cave. Keep things going the next day: kick back and relax at Kondoi Beach, walk around Banna Park, and then discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour.

On the 21st (Wed), kick back and relax at Todomari Beach, then kick back and relax at Ida no Hama Beach, and then skim along the rocks with a canyoning and rapelling tour. A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
Visiting Aragusuku Beach and Shimojiiima Island will get you outdoors. Get a sense of the local culture at Higashi Hennazaki Lighthouse and Tomori no Amai. Daihonzan Eihei-ji Temple and Oyama Shrine are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Visiting Chirihama Nagisa Driveway and Mt. Tateyama will get you outdoors.
