Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Canyoning & Rappelling Tours and Stand-Up Paddleboarding. Formed by the gradual merging of several old fishing villages, today the island town of Motobu-cho boasts paradisal beaches of white sand, clear waters, and a rich array of wildlife.
Family-friendly places like Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium and Minnajima Island will thrill your kids. Change things up with these side-trips from Motobu-cho: Onna-son (Onna Seaside Cizil Park Nabii Beach, Cape Manzamo, &more) and Iejima Beach Side Horse Park (in Ie-son). The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Attractions like Universal Studios Japan and Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan make great kid-friendly stops. Take a break from Kyoto with a short trip to Osaka Shiritsu Toyo Toji Museum in Osaka, about 1h 5 min away. There's still lots to do: contemplate the long history of Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kinkaku-ji, go for a walk through Gion, and go all around town with Kyoto with Kids.

Take a train from Hiroshima to Kyoto in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In August, plan for daily highs up to 39°C, and evening lows to 29°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 14th (Fri) early enough to drive to Kanazawa.
