You'll explore and learn at Edo-Tokyo Museum and National Museum of Nature and Science. Visit Senso-ji Temple and Fukagawa Edo Museum for their historical value. There's still lots to do: explore the world behind art at Tokyo National Museum, don't miss a visit to Meiji Jingu Shrine, get curious at National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation Miraikan, and take a stroll through Odaiba District.

Buffalo, USA to Tokyo is an approximately 19-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 14 hours traveling from Buffalo to Tokyo. Expect a bit warmer temperatures when traveling from Buffalo in August; daily highs in Tokyo reach 88°F and lows reach 76°F. Discover out-of-the-way places like Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum and Maruoka Castle. You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Chirihama Nagisa Driveway and Takayama Jinya. Explore Kanazawa's surroundings by going to Shirakawa-mura (Shirakawago Gassho Zukuri Minkaen & Wada House), Takayama (Hirata Folk Art Museum (Hirata Kinen-kan), Higashiyama Walking Course, &more) and Kita Family House (in Hodatsushimizu-cho). Traveling by train from Tokyo to Kanazawa takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. In August in Kanazawa, expect temperatures between 86°F during the day and 74°F at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 9th (Mon) so you can travel to Iriomote-jima.

On the 10th (Tue), identify plant and animal life at Funauki Village, kick back and relax at Ida no Hama Beach, thenhead off the coast to Iriomote Island, thenkick back and relax at Hoshisuna Beach, and finally take in the dramatic scenery at Pinaisara Falls. Traveling by flight from Kanazawa to Iriomote-jima takes 9 hours. Traveling from Kanazawa in August, plan for a bit warmer nights in Iriomote-jima, with lows around 81°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 11th (Wed) early enough to catch the ferry to Ishigaki.
