Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Cape Hirakubozaki and Kondoi Beach. There's much more to do: take in panoramic vistas at Tamatorizaki Observatory, stroll around Banna Park, kick back and relax at Yonehara Beach, and take in the waterfront at Nishi Pier.

Iriomote-jima

Taketomicho Iriomote-Jima stands as the second largest island in Okinawa.
Start off your visit on the 21st (Sat): head off the coast to Iriomote Island and then paddle through the water with a kayaking and canoeing tour. On your second day here, skim along the rocks with a canyoning and rapelling tour and then admire the sheer force of Pinaisara Falls.
