High in the Andean foothills, Quito remains one of the world's most photogenic capital cities, featuring two dramatic mountain ranges as its backdrop.
Your day-by-day itinerary now includes Cotopaxi Volcano as well as Cotopaxi National Park. Venture out of the city with trips to Pichincha (in Puerto Quito), Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve (in Calacali) and Cuicocha (in Cotacachi). Saddle up on the 15th (Sun) and explore with a tour on horseback. There's still lots to do: appreciate the extensive heritage of Quito Old Town, admire the masterpieces at La Capilla Del Hombre, take an in-depth tour of Museo Templo del Sol Pintor Ortega Maila, and admire the landmark architecture of Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco.

To find photos, where to stay, and tourist information, you can read our Quito online journey planner.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major aiports are Mariscal Sucre International Airport and Cotopaxi International Airport. In March in Quito, expect temperatures between 70°F during the day and 60°F at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 25th (Wed) early enough to travel back home.
