Gawler is the first country town on the Australian mainland in the state of South Australia, and is named after the second Governor (British Vice-Regal representative) of the colony of South Australia, George Gawler. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Gawler: National Motor Museum (in Birdwood), Oakbank (Amy Gillett Bikeway, Johnston Oakbank Cellar Door, &more) and Hahndorf (Hahndorf Hill Winery & The Cedars).
