Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Stand-Up Paddleboarding and Cape Hirakubozaki. We've included these beaches for you: Yonehara Beach and Kondoi Beach. On the 5th (Thu), spend an adventurous day with a kayaking and canoeing tour. There's much more to do: take in panoramic vistas at Tamatorizaki Observatory, stroll around Kabira Park, contemplate the waterfront views at Kabira Bay, and get outside with Yarabudake.

Erbil, Iraq to Ishigaki is an approximately 23.5-hour flight. You'll lose 6 hours traveling from Erbil to Ishigaki due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Erbil in May, expect nights in Ishigaki to be a bit warmer, around 28°C, while days are slightly colder, around 34°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 6th (Fri) so you can catch the ferry to Iriomote-jima.

Getting from Ishigaki to Iriomote-jima by ferry takes about an hour. In May, plan for daily highs up to 34°C, and evening lows to 28°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 9th (Mon) to allow time to ride a ferry to Miyakojima.

A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
Get in touch with nature at Scuba & Snorkeling and Toguchi no Hama. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Aragusuku Beach and Yonaha Maehama Beach. There's much more to do: kick back and relax at Sunayama Beach, visit a coastal fixture at Higashi Hennazaki Lighthouse, step off the mainland to explore Shimojiiima Island, and snap pictures at Irabu Bridge.

Traveling by ferry from Iriomote-jima to Miyakojima takes 4 hours. Expect a daytime high around 32°C in May, and nighttime lows around 27°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 13th (Fri) early enough to travel to Hiroshima.

Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims and Daishoin Temple. Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Senjokaku and Itsukushima Shrine. Step out of Hiroshima to go to Hatsukaichi and see Miyajima, which is approximately 1 hour away. Do a combination of flight and train from Miyakojima to Hiroshima in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly. Traveling from Miyakojima in May, things will get little chillier in Hiroshima: highs are around 28°C and lows about 18°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 16th (Mon) early enough to catch the train to Kyoto.
