A cultural capital on the state's relatively quiet northern coast, Kannur has long been associated with textile production and temple rituals, earning it the nickname, the "Land of Looms and Lores." Most Kannur itineraries will include observing theyyam rituals performed at the temples, where the traditions have origins dating back thousands of years.
Visit Thottada Beach and Ezhara Beach for some beach relaxation. Fort St. Angelos and Mridanga Saileswari Temple will appeal to history buffs. Step out of Kannur to go to Paithalmala and see Paithalmala Hill Station, which is approximately 1h 5 min away. There's lots more to do: make a trip to Sri Rajarajeswara Temple, tour the pleasant surroundings at Payyambalam Beach, buy something for everyone on your list at Kannur City Center, and enjoy the sand and surf at KIzhunna Beach.
