Darwin

The smallest of Australia’s state capitals, Darwin has nevertheless become an attractive and important urban center, being simultaneously one of the country’s most modernized cities and a gateway to both the Top End region and South East Asia.
Venture out of the city with trips to Humpty Doo (Didgeridoo Hut & Art Gallery & Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve), Batchelor (Litchfield National Park, Batchelor Museum, &more) and Litchfield National Park (Walker Creek, Buley Rockhole, &more). And it doesn't end there: surround yourself with nature on a nature and wildlife tour, get engrossed in the history at RFDS Darwin Tourist Facility, enjoy the sand and surf at Mindil Beach, and see the interesting displays at Defence of Darwin Experience.

To find other places to visit, more things to do, and more tourist information, use the Darwin road trip planning tool.

Use the Route module to see travel options from your home to Darwin. In June, plan for daily highs up to 36°C, and evening lows to 24°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 17th (Fri) to allow enough time to travel to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.

Please note that visitors are no longer allowed to trek up Uluru.

Located right in the center of Australia, the national park boasts perhaps the country's most iconic natural symbol and a sacred place for the region's indigenous people--as well as Kata Tjuta, a collection of 36 red rocks forming an equally distinctive sight.

Your plan includes some of its best attractions: take in the dramatic natural features at Uluru, take in the exciting artwork at Walkatjara Art, take an in-depth tour of Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, and appreciate the views at Valley of the Winds.
