Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Get some cultural insight at Ginza and Senso-ji Temple. Head to The Tsukiji Market and Yokohama Chinatownfor some retail therapy. Get out of town with these interesting Tokyo side-trips: Kamakura (Hase-dera Temple, Kōtoku-in, & more) and Tokyo Disneyland (in Urayasu). There's still lots to do: wander the streets of Odaiba, see the interesting displays at Ghibli Museum, get a sense of history and politics at Imperial Palace, and don't miss a visit to Meiji Jingu.

Seattle, USA to Tokyo is an approximately 14.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight. The time zone changes from Pacific Standard Time to Japan Standard Time, which is usually a 17 hour difference. In January in Tokyo, expect temperatures between 50°F during the day and 35°F at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 5th (Mon) so you can go by car to Hakone-machi.

You can drive from Tokyo to Hakone-machi in 1.5 hours. Other options are to take a train; or take a bus. Traveling from Tokyo in February, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be somewhat warmer in Hakone-machi, with lows of 45°F. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 10th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel to Naha.

Naha, the capital of Okinawa, has deep roots: Stone Age relics have been found in the city, and through the Middle Ages it rose in importance in the Ryukyu Kingdom.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Shurijo Castle and Okinawa Peace Memorial Park. Head to Makishi Public Market and Shijo Hondorifor plenty of shopping. Explore Naha's surroundings by going to Kitanakagusuku-son (Nakagusuku Castle & AEONMALL OKINAWA RYCOM), Nakijin Castle Remains (in Nakijin-son) and Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium (in Motobu-cho). Getting from Hakone-machi to Naha by combination of train, flight, and taxi takes about 5 hours. Other options: do a combination of train and ferry; or do a combination of car and ferry. In February, Naha is somewhat warmer than Hakone-machi - with highs of 68°F and lows of 60°F. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 15th (Thu) to allow enough time to travel to Hiroshima.
