Often known as the Gateway to the Black Forest, Pforzheim features a wealth of educational institutions, cultural sites, and centers for the arts.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Golfclub Schloss Weitenburg and Burgruine Zavelstein. Hermann Hesse Museum and Wimpfen Imperial Palace will appeal to history buffs. Get out of town with these interesting Pforzheim side-trips: Barfusspark Hallwangen (in Dornstetten), Nagoldtalsperre (in Seewald) and Calw (Evangelic St. Peter und Paul church, Nikolauskapelle, & more). Plan for a day of cool, family-friendly fun on the 29th (Fri) at Badepark Ellental. There's still lots to do: look for all kinds of wild species at Monbachtal, see the interesting displays at Guttenberg Castle (Burg Guttenberg), explore the historical opulence of Wasserschloss Glatt, and take an in-depth tour of Museum im Alten Schloß.

If you are flying in from Colombia, the closest major airports are Stuttgart Airport, Karlsruhe Baden-Baden Airport and Saarbrücken Airport. In February, daily temperatures in Pforzheim can reach 7°C, while at night they dip to -1°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 31st (Sun) early enough to travel back home.
