Quito

— 59 nights

Light of America

High in the Andean foothills, Quito remains one of the world's most photogenic capital cities, featuring two dramatic mountain ranges as its backdrop.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Paz de las Aves Bird Refuge and Pacha Quindi Nature Refuge. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Quito: Termas de Papallacta (in Papallacta), Bellavista Cloud Forest Reserve (in Tandayapa) and Pichincha (in Puerto Quito). Spend the 15th (Fri) among the fascinating landscape of Cotopaxi National Park. On the 20th (Wed), spend a fun day on foot with Walking tours. Next up on the itinerary: stroll around Parque Metropolitano, delve into the lush surroundings at Pasochoa Forest Reserve, admire the masterpieces at Convento De San Francisco, and head outdoors with Jardin Botanico de Quito.
