Outback Capital of the Northern Territory
The smallest of Australia’s state capitals, Darwin has nevertheless become an attractive and important urban center, being simultaneously one of the country’s most modernized cities and a gateway to both the Top End region and South East Asia.Shop till you drop at Viva La Body and Coolalinga Shopping Center. Attractions like Crocosaurus Cove and Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory make great kid-friendly stops. Step out of Darwin to go to Berry Springs and see Territory Wildlife Park, which is approximately 42 minutes away. Spend the 22nd (Fri) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. There's much more to do: make a splash at Darwin Waterfront, stroll around Leanyer Recreation Park, browse the eclectic array of goods at The Nightcliff Market, and identify plant and animal life at East Point Reserve.
