Witness the work of famed Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan at , a majestic religious structure that dominates the Golden Horn and shares similarities with Hagia Sophia. This mosque was commissioned by Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent in 1550 and completed seven years later. Though it may be less ornate than other elaborate religious structures in the city, the mosque's Byzantine influence has gained it recognition for its blend of architectural styles. Having experienced damage from natural disasters and wars over the centuries, the building is fully restored and now one of the most popular attractions in Istanbul. The Mosque is very beautiful and very well maintained. The location of the Mosque is strategic and you can see it from wherever you are!! Leaving the Mosque I advise you to stop and sip tea in one of the terraces from which you can enjoy a unique landscape. Even better at sunset or when all the lights of the city come on.
This mosque was on our list of places to visit in Turkey . The mosque is a beautiful building with intricate detail both inside and out. It was very relaxing outside just sitting gazing at the view down below and looking at the mosque. The mosque is high up so expect some walking. There was a separate area with graves which people were visiting too . We didn't have much time to explore as it closed at 5. I would definitely recommend visiting this place .
😍One of the best mosques in Istanbul. No crowd and noise. Very quiet and peaceful place with soft and clean carpets. Don't forget that it's real mosque and tourists are not allowed during pray time. And of course if you are very squeamish person remember about socks🧦, because everybody should take off shoes at the entrance
