Chor-Minor, Bukhara

4.4
Admire the charm of four elegant towers of Chor-Minor, a historic mosque and madrasa, and part of a World Heritage Site. Completed in 1807 by Turkmen Khalif Niyazkul, these round baked-brick towers feature unique ornamentation and numerous sky-blue tiled domes. Their ornateness represents more of a Hindu style than the rest of Uzbek architecture in Bukhara. Three of them served as storage space, while the fourth one has a staircase leading to the top. Climb that staircase to get a panorama of the city, and stop in the small souvenir shop inside the complex. • A bit difficult to access with Google Maps. Too small to stay for a long time but recommend to visit this lovely-shape site.  more »
  • This is so much a part of the Bukhara landscape. Adds a lot of colour to the the place. Such structures are nice to see though we did not enter the minarets.  more »

  • Cute little ex-Madrassah; there was no one there in the morning when I came to take pictures. Also a cool market with ex-soviet paraphernalia next door with great deals.
  • Our favourite place in Uzbekistan! Chor Minor is a delightful little building.
