Landmark · Tourist Spot
Enjoy the architectural ensemble centered around Lyab-i-Hauz, an ancient reservoir in downtown Bukhara that once supplied the city with drinking water. Built in the 16th and 17th centuries, the complex features the largest madrasah in the city, a lodging house for itinerant Sufis, and another madrasah displaying two exquisite phoenixes on its pointed arch entrance. All three feature elaborately design, with typical sky blue and ocher tiles. A popular social gathering place for locals, the park around the pond features benches and cafes as well as a bronze sculpture of the medieval national sage, Nasreddin Hodja, and that of a camel caravan. Observe locals play board games by the pond, or enjoy a traditional meal under a vaulted ceiling. • Too noisy and too bright... I wanted to see this spot without electric decoration. And if it were sunny, I would enjoy taking photo.  more »
  • Lyab-i-Hauz consists of awesome monuments. The surrounding one of the few remaining ponds that have survived in the city. The area has a lot of souvenir shops as well as restaurants.  more »

  • This small hotel is very unique because around the hotel and in side woodwork is amazing
  • Average service and appropriate prices (on my opinion of course)
